First Assignment: Points for Study and Discussion

Here are some questions to guide your study of the technique. (Note: feel free to practice LESS IS MORE again as you reflect on these questions!)

1. Did you notice any changes in the rhythm or pattern of your breath at any time during your practice, or afterward? (Note: The "pattern" of your breath is the specific voluntary or involuntary bodily movements that you do in order to produce a given breath or series of breaths.)

2. If so, specifically what changes did observe? Did your breath become longer or shorter, deeper or shallower, faster or slower, at any time? Did you notice that the movements of the Lower, Middle, or Upper Breathing Spaces were more pronounced relative to each other at certain times? Did you find that your breath behaved differently at the beginning, middle, or end of your practice?

3. If so, did those changes occur spontaneously, or did they occur in response to your own volition? Or both?

4. If so, did you notice any changes in your state of consciousness when you practiced this technique? Did you remain lucidly awake, did you fall asleep, or did you enter some intermediate state? Did you have an unusual thought, dreams, inspirations?

5. Did you experience any pleasurable bodily experiences, either describable or indescribable, while practicing? What were they?

6. Did you have any other meaningful experiences, either describable or indescribable, during your practice of the technique? What were they?

The floor is open to your comments. We are all eager to hear your observations!
